Welcome to the WOCN Society Member Spotlight blog, featuring inspiring stories behind our members. In this edition month, we’re spotlighting Christina Morgan, MSN, RN, CWOCN, CFCN, a dedicated WOC nurse from Ocean Springs, MS. With a rich background in wound, ostomy, and continence care, Christina has been a valued member of the WOCN Society since 2014.
Background and Professional Journey
Christina’s journey into the world of wound, ostomy, and continence care began with a keen observation as a bedside nurse. Recognizing the scarcity of local certified ostomy nurses in the face of a significant ostomate population, Christina felt compelled to provide expert care to those in need. Christina’s commitment to improving the lives of ostomy patients became the driving force behind her decision to specialize in the field.
Her passion for healthcare extends beyond the clinical setting. Christina’s love for providing help, support, and care, coupled with her desire to be a resource for those in need, exemplifies her unwavering dedication to the profession. Even if money were not a factor Christina would still be a WOC nurse, underlining her genuine passion for making a difference in people’s lives.
WOCN Society Membership
Christina joined the WOCN Society with a clear goal in mind – staying connected and up to date with the latest research, standards, education, and networking opportunities. Her favorite part of being a member lies in the camaraderie she shares with a unique group of innovative, creative, and dedicated medical professionals. Christina learns something new every time she connects with the WOCN Society.
Meaningful WOC Moments
Christina takes pride in her role as a WOC nurse at the VA, expressing a sense of privilege in providing specialized care to our nation’s Veterans. For her, every day is a source of pride as she contributes to improving the lives of those who have served the country. Christina has so many meaningful moments when she has helped enhance a patient’s quality of life, allowing them to live their remaining days with dignity and respect.
“You truly never know a person’s struggles and your few minutes of time and compassion can easily translate to a lifetime of hope and appreciation for them,” said Christina. Caring for Veterans has inspired her to be a better WOC nurse each day.
Future Aspirations
Christina plans to utilize her MSN degree in Nursing Healthcare Leadership to develop and implement processes, policies, and programs aimed at enhancing medical staff needs and improving patient health outcomes at her place of employment.
Life Beyond Nursing
Outside of nursing, Christina finds joy in being a busy mother to two lively children and a fortunate wife to her hardworking husband. She values the moments spent with family and friends, appreciating the laughter and the little things in life.
As a gesture of gratitude, Christina extends a heartfelt “THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE” to all the Veterans!
