The South Central Chapter is committed to supporting the WOC nurse in his/her practice as it pertains to Wellness, Symptom Science, Quality, and Clinical Care Innovation. The South Central Chapter offers the below scholarships annually.
BEVERLY G. HAMPTON WOC EDUCATION SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarships of $1,500.00 are available annually for two WOC students from the South Central Chapter enrolled in a WOC nurse education program. The application for this scholarship must be accompanied by 3 letters of reference and proof of acceptance into a WOC education program.
ADVANCED PRACTICE NURSING SCHOLARSHIP
A scholarship of $1,000.00 is available annually for the nurse seeking to advance their education through advanced practice nursing degree. The nurse would be pursuing an MSN/DNP or CNS/NP certificate. The application for this scholarship must be accompanied by 3 letters of reference and proof of acceptance into a graduate program.
OAHA (OSTOMY ASSOCIATION OF THE HOUSTON AREA) / SPRING BRANCH MEDICAL SUPPLY SCHOLARSHIP
The SCC facilitates this scholarship of up to $4000.00 for a dual to full scope WOC nursing student living in the greater Houston area (100 mile radius). This scholarship is jointly funded by the Spring Branch Medical Supply Company and the Ostomy Association of the Houston Area.
YOUTH RALLY CAMPER OR COUNSELOR SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship of up to is available for two individuals (campers or counselors) to attend the Youth Rally Camp each summer. Campers will be given priority.
SCR POSTER PRESENTATION SCHOLARSHIP
Scholarships of $250.00 are available to 2 WOC nurses in the SCC with an accepted abstract for poster presentation at the national conference.
SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE
The South Central Chapter Scholarship Committee proposes that the committee be established as a permanent committee consisting of 5 members (if available) representing the states that make up the chapter.
The purpose of the South Central Chapter Scholarship Program is to support individuals committed to working with patients with wounds, ostomies, continence, and/or foot and nail related issues, whom provide services within the chapter. The WOC Nurse Educational Scholarships along with the Poster and Youth Rally Scholarships take financial need into consideration.
