In light of the recent COVID-19 resurgence, including highly contagious variants like the Delta variant, the Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nurses SocietyTM (WOCN®) joined 56 organizations and professional societies this week to issue their support for mandated COVID-19 vaccinations for all nurses, healthcare, and long-term care professionals.
At this time, over 160 million individuals in the US and hundreds of millions around the world have been administered the COVID-19 vaccine and many healthcare professionals continue to be amongst the population of unvaccinated individuals.
“As healthcare professionals, we understand that not everyone can be vaccinated because of medical issues. But we also believe this number of people is small,” said Dea J. Kent DNP, RN, NP-C, CWOCN, WOCN President. “As we work with some of the most vulnerable, vaccinations can help us to mitigate and possibly avoid illness for ourselves, our family members, and perhaps for our patients as well.”
